Research interests:
• Tenure rights to land and natural resources
PhD in Social Anthropology, Stockholm University in 1993 with a thesis on Peasant Differentiation and Development: the Case of a Mexican Ejido, Stockholm: Stockholm Studies in Social Anthropology, 28, 1991.
Worked as Programme Officer/Senior Policy Adviser at Sida between 2001-11, with main responsibilities within the area of rural development (2001-03) and for land issues and coordination of the internal Sida working group on this theme (2009-11). From 2004-07, posted at the Swedish Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua, with an overall responsibility for the Swedish regional support to the area of Environment and Natural Resources in Central America. In 2008/09, temporarily posted at the Swedish Embassy in Maputo as programme officer for the Swedish development co-operation to Mozambique in the area of agriculture and private sector development including the support to the Community Land Initiative. Similarly, in 2010 briefly posted at the Swedish Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, with particular responsibility for the preparation of the Swedish support to the land and forest sectors there.
