About Snöfrid Börjesson Herou

My research is about industry renewal with focus on the individual, the geographical context, and what role a presence of skill-related industries plays for renewal. The perspective on the individual is for example treated by analyzing labor-mobility among workers and skill-background of entrepreneurs. I have chosen the textile industry in the West Swedish region Västra Götaland as the basis for my research as it has undergone substantial renewal. Around the same time as manufacturing of textiles has become increasingly knowledge-intensive and focused on technical textiles, the internet commerce of textiles has emerged and become an important part of today’s textile industry. By studying how the presence of skill-related industries influence renewal mechanisms my research aims to contribute to the research field within evolutionary economics.  Policy implications concern how to promote renewal in mature and declining industries.

I am also course-assistant for the masters-course “Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, that is part of the masters-program “Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship” and also an elective course for other master students.
