Host and Local Organizing Committee (LOC)

Centre for Tourism research

The congress will be hosted and organized by the Centre for Tourism research (CFT) and partners. The CFT research forms a cross disciplinary research platform in close collaboration with the local and regional tourism industry. The mission is to initiate, develop, and support increased knowledge development and professionalization within the tourism field. The objective is to become one of the leading tourism research centers in Europe.

CFT is conducting qualified research and education in the field of tourism. The staff at the Centre represents a broad range of academic competences, and research is often interdisciplinary. Current prioritized research at the CFT includes event and meetings management, impact analysis of tourism, coastal and marine tourism, destinations management and cultural tourism.

The Local Organizing Committee is headed by:

Prof. Lena Mossberg
Congress Co-Chair

Lena Mossberg is an ambassador for the maritime tourism cluster in West Sweden. The maritime sector is an area of strength in the region and therefore a prioritized area in public efforts to create innovation platforms and infrastructures. Lena is professor in marketing, in the School of Business, Economics and Law at Gothenburg University, Sweden and also Professor II at University of Nordland in Norway. She holds a Ph.D. in Business administration and has interests in consumer behaviour and consumption, consumer experiences, service encounters, and destination image. She has published several articles and books related to event marketing, food tourism, restaurant management and concept development related to events, destinations, restaurants and hotels.

Prof. Marie Stenseke
Congress Co-Chair

Marie Stenseke is professor in Human Geography at the University of Gothenburg. Her research concerns landscape management from a social science perspective. She has been involved in a large number of national and international research projects and programs, and was Vice program director for the Swedish national research program Outdoor recreation in change 2006-2013. Marie has engaged with knowledge communication through special commissions on various levels, e.g. as Co-chair the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of UN:s biodiversity panel (IPBES), as - Member of the board for Svenskt Friluftsliv, (an NGO for nature based outdoor recreation, organizing about 2 million Swedes) and as fellow of The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. She has previous experiences as a chair for two international conferences, Monitoring and Management of Visitors in Recreational and Protected Areas 2012 (MMV6) and The Permanent European Conference for the Study of the Rural Landscape 2014 (PECSRL 2014).
