Global challenges, local solutions

Current topics and discourses in coastal and marine tourism contexts are often global in nature, in particular in connection to the aims of sustainable development and the management of ecosystem services. But, for example, planning, strategy, innovation and development are usually grounded in local coastal and marine contexts, affecting both communities and industries that are located there. This is a challenge in itself, but may also present an interesting opportunity if the local is connected to the global.

The congress theme will be reflected in the proposed panel sessions on tourism innovation, the tourism-recreation relationship and tourism development in the global south. Likewise, the congress topics and keynotes will connect to the main theme.
