Study plan

A general study plan is established for each subject. In addition, an individual study plan must be established for each student.

General study plan

The general study plan contains information on for example:

  • Degree that the programme may lead to.
  • Programme disposition and content
  • Intended learning outcomes according to the system of qualifications with specification for the respective subject.
  • Extent of the thesis (in higher education credits).
  • Extent of compulsory and elective courses as well as other credit-bearing activities (in higher education credits).
  • Eligibility requirements for the programme.
  • Selection criteria for assessment of applicants’ ability to benefit from postgraduate studies.

Individual study plan

An individual study plan (ISP) must be established for each postgraduate student. The ISP shall document completed and planned parts of the programme. The individual study plan serves as a steering instrument for the entire length of the programme and shall ensure that the studies are conducted and followed up in an effective manner.

  • The responsibility to make the ISP a live document in the daily work lies primarily with the postgraduate student and his/her supervisor.
     
  • The ISP is established and revised jointly by the postgraduate student, supervisor and student examiner.
     
  • The ISP is approved and thereby finalised by the Head of Department. The Head of Department is also to ensure that the ISP is reviewed and revised at least once a year. Revisions shall also be made as deemed necessary in relation to the progression of the studies as well as on request by the postgraduate student.
     
  • An ISP must be established for each postgraduate student no later than two months following admission to postgraduate studies.
     
  • The ISP must be established according to the University’s central ISP template.
